Cardinal Health Canada, based in Vaughan, Ontario, will establish a new distribution center in the greater Toronto area, marking its ninth strategic location in the country.

The new facility, spanning 163,000 square feet, aims to leverage advanced robotic technologies to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy in meeting the demands for medical and surgical products within the Canadian healthcare system.

The distribution center is expected to be fully operational between late 2023 and early 2024. This expansion will increase Cardinal Health Canada's total distribution space in Ontario to 541,000 square feet and nationally to 1,120,000 square feet.

"Beyond growing our already significant distribution footprint across Canada, this distribution center supports Cardinal Health's market-leading just-in-time Stockless solution, which takes on the complexities of procurement, supply chain, warehousing and transportation within hospitals, so they can focus on what hospitals do best: patient care," said Russell Schuster, president of Cardinal Health Canada.

The development is part of a broader expansion within North America, and the third new distribution center announced for Cardinal Health's Medical Segment since April 2023.

Cardinal Health operates across more than 30 countries and has approximately 46,500 employees worldwide.
